Suining (Chinese:) is a major retail company based in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, China. It was founded on June 3, 1991.
As of 2022, it has over 1000 stores across more than 700 cities and towns in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. Suining is the largest Chinese retail company with an annual revenue of over 1 trillion yuan (US$143 billion) as of 2021.
Suining was founded by Zhang Jindong, a Chinese entrepreneur who previously worked at IBM China as its head of sales. In the early years, Suining started off as an electronics etailer.html">retailer selling imported and domestic products. However, in 1998, it began to transition into a home appliances retail business after acquiring several small and medium-sized appliance retailers.
Between 2004 and 2011, Suining launched its e-commerce platform, known today as Suining.com. It also partnered with the Chinese logistics company Yunda Express to provide express delivery services.html">services across China. In December 2012, Suining launched a smartphone brand called Suining Shoujie under its subsidiary Suining Technology.
On June 19, 2020, Suining went public on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange via an initial public offering (IPO) that raised HK$20 billion (US$2.6 billion). The IPO was oversubscribed with applications totaling HK$85 billion (US$11 billion), a testament to the company''s popularity and growth.
